Inspiration and Work
My artistic inspiration stems from the vibrant colors found in nature, which I use to evoke feelings of joy and positivity in my oil paintings. By selecting subjects that symbolize growth, I aim to uplift viewers and inspire them to embrace the beauty and hope that surrounds us.
Biography
Patrice grew up in the Midwest and spent her childhood exploring the lake, forest, and countryside. She now lives with her husband and spaniel in a forest-like area of Portland where an all-season stream connects to her property, producing its’ water music.
She enjoyed a 40 year nursing career, balanced by her sketching and watercolor paintings. A member, and leader, in the Watercolor Society of Oregon, Patrice has been juried into numerous art shows and competitions and achieved an expertise in watermedia.
Upon leaving nursing, Patrice began painting full time in her studio by the stream. She challenged herself with acrylic painting on canvas. She would hike the many beautiful Pacific Northwest rivers and capture watery movements around boulders and down falls, and paint them.
Recently Patrice has developed a love for the old masters works of the Renaissance through the Baroque period. Specifically, their method of dark backgrounds, subtracting paints for value, and applying oil pigments.
