About the Art
Paintings by Christine Knowles reflect her passion for place. She has played and painted in the Columbia River Gorge for over 20 years. Her primary medium is pastel — pure pigment in stick form — which she layers over textured paper, sometimes adding sumi ink and watercolor. Increasingly abstract as time goes by, Christine works with bold colors and strong shapes to express a personal response to her environment.
