Wearable Art
Portland, Oregon
About the Art:
I’m Judee Moonbeam, native Oregonian, with a deep love for fabric collage –and recycling! Using a combo of recycled fabrics in my “collage” process, I dye, embellish and silkscreen fabrics to alter appearance.
Most of my work is one-of-a kind, as I feel wearable art, like any other art, should not come in a standard of “3 sizes and 5 colors.” Clients note a bit of “old world” vibe to my work…like something you’d find in a Mediterranean souk.
Reclaiming fabrics has been my “theme” since childhood. That continued as I earned my degree in clothing design, then spilled into my fibre art teaching career, where the concept of reuse was a basic part of my curriculum.
Along with interesting fibre art commissions and contract orders, I create colorful, yet very wearable garments and accessories.
Clients are welcome to visit my shop by appointment—a cozy, colorful garage recycled into a studio! I sell my work through my Etsy shop, several galleries, summer art festivals and other events throughout the year.
